Since many of you come to my blog looking for paper toys...
This is a project I did in my first year of University. A paper toys project that I did research on my blog here, the topic which gets me my most hits. My toys were named "Stan Wars" and I decided to make my toys based on obsessive super fans of celebrities who's whole life revolves around their idols and berating other fans of rival celebrities from the comfort of their bedrooms.
Even nearly 2 years on this project is still one of my favorites and has a special place for me in my portfolio. I had a lot of fun with this project, I don't nearly do enough hand crafted design these days.

Feminine Hygiene Advertisements
My current brief I am designing a campaign for Femfresh intimate hygiene products. My aim is to make feminine hygiene products less of a taboo by using slang and feminine language to grab attention. Here are some advertisements that are somewhat crass but do make me laugh:
For example lysol, this was marketed as a feminine hygiene product but was widely used as contraceptive before the pill was manufactured. This is the kind of thing I want to steer away from making feminine hygiene and reproductive health a taboo.
These are for playtex's "fresh+sexy" range and are causing a bit of a storm as they are being classed as crass and sexist. I personally think advertisements of the past are a lot worse:

Website updated
Alright so I've been very busy with University since starting again in September. It's my final year and I am preparing myself for graduation, sorting out projects to update my portfolio and apply for placements. I have recently updated my website JenniferScott.co.uk and put up some of the newer projects I've been working on. Soon I will be moving my blog onto a wordpress blog I created over at my domain. Still working out the kinks then I'll be all set to go :)

Photography Books
It's been such a long time since I've posted. Here is some of the work I've done over semester 2. The photography on Reflections is done by myself and the photography on "The Roots That Bind Us" is by Ellie Armour.

Busy busy busy!
Alright I've been very neglectful of my dear blog here something I'll admit I am not very proud of! Whilst I have been drowning in a backlog of work and semiotics lectures I have been looking at and thinking about design. I have been keeping up with my readings in particular and have to recommend this book here:
Know Your Onions has so many different graphic design related tips, think you know everything well think again! This book has been a source of inspiration and help. The book itself is almost like a little moleskine sketchbook and provides pages to doodle and write notes for each chapter (again very useful!). Beautifully bound and has a lovely home made feel. If you've read my blog by now people will have gotten on to the fact I love collecting graphic design books/magazines. Any recommendations for me? Please leave a comment.

Design in Context 2 : Subcultures
This is a current project for design in context 2 with designers Luci Ormrod, Debbie Nixon, Dominic Tunstall and Luvena Petty. We will be blogging and researching subcultures. To look at our progress and to possibly get involved with surveys/other things keep a check on my blog and our subcultures blog.
